For Grace by Aaron
22/02/07
Which part of your life calls for such a change?
Removed from one limb, given to another.
Survival is learned from scratch,
Rushed struggle lived at a different pace.
Everyone dreams of knowing somewhere strange,
Demanding exploration, the finding of new.
Yet when it’s found human error soon takes its toll,
Dreary days emerging again in a different form.
You were never told, no guide to the given,
No map crafted, atlas to our nature.
So you persevere, tyrant of your own mind,
Determined to see the world in a different light.
Eyes of varied colours all have sight the same,
Surely then beauty is something undeserved?
Functionally the same, impressions live apart,
Surface objects drawing us in with different lusts.
In a new world, what have you found?
Fewer cars, less smoke, limited joys to find?
Not a blessing when there’s so much time to think,
Days passing the same with hardly a different tune.
Senses must be relearned along with hazards,
Sicknesses demanding respect, awaiting the attack.
Polishing the earth and rounding off the edges,
Revealing itself as not too different at all.
my comment, very poetic and in depth. i coulnt interpret the 4th and 6th phrase. but i got it now. well, have fun interpreting, it relates to where i come from and where i am now, and how to live in a new country. thanks aaron! "
