there are so many of my friends getting married this year and ironically im in melbourne. i've missed 3 weddings so far, and 3 more coming soon. 3 of them are my friends in choir and 3 more are from my chapter, and 2 was my ex district leader. i have some sort of contact with them except for two that i wasnt close to them before, but for the rest of the 4, i've worked with them before, in one way or another, be it on an event, or a meeting, some were my senior in faith. so i really feel like attending their wedding. but all i can do is to send my greetings here, or asking my friends to send my regards to them on their wedding day.
marriage is one of the most wonderful phase in one's life, but it is the life after that that determines their happiness. for some people, marriage is a dream-come-true event, it's romantic and everything is about love. hope they would have a wonderful marriage ahead. =)
"wedding is a destiny, but marriage is a journey"
in relation to the above entry, anchal was sharing with me the arranged marriage culture in India. it is something very common and normal in india. once a girl reach 27, if they are still single, their parents would start looking for eligible bachelor for them to get married. their parents would ask their daughter what criteria they look for in a husband, and using that as a guidelines, they would go out hunting for the right man for her. the parents would do all the background research, education, character etc everything they could find out before agreeing on a marriage. i mean, they would want their daughter to be married to someone that would bring happiness to their daughter right? so they would really go all out to do 'reserach' on that guy. once they got the right person, they would start arrange for marriage after both parties agrees to tie the knot. in some cases, both the groom and the bridegroom would only see them in person on their wedding day. prior to that, they would just exchange photos and maybe to exchange a few words on the phone. sounds really weird to me, definitely not something i would agree on. but then anchal went on telling me the miracle thing about arrange marriage by giving me many many great experience in her family. like her sister for example, they met on their wedding day, which was few months ago, but now they are happily married together and felt so much in love with each other. she said that in an arrange marriage, both parties will try to make things work out, and its the effort of both parties. whereas in a normal relationship, usually there is only one party doing all the effort and the other is the one receiving all the efforts. and that in a normal relationship, you are happy because the other person give you happiness, but in an arrange marriage, both parties would give in their effort and to make the marriage work. maybe the way i write it here doesnt make sense, but i after listening to her, i have a new perspective on arranged marriage. anchal told me that she would definitely get married at the age of 27 whether or not she is single or in a relationship. it was something so common in india that they wouldnt feel sorry or shameful of arranged marriage. whereas for me, coming from my background which arranged marriage only exists in films and movies, i felt that was really weird. and i guess if someone in msia were to have arranged marriage, i guess that would be a taboo for them, normally they would try not to reveal it, and keep it low profile, but i think arranged marriage rarely happens in msia. maybe 50 years ago it exist but not anymore, or maybe there is but im not aware of them. BUT its totally different in india, its a norm, its something so common like eating ice cream on a sunny day. hahaha! anyway, i really felt that arranged marriage is not bad afterall. so dont be ashame if you're in an arranged marriage. be proud! anchal said that the percentage of getting divorce in an arranged marriage is lesser compared to normal marriage. maybe i my parents should start doing some 'research' for me now. hahahaha !!!
i went to ferntree gully on sat and sun. mind you, 1 hour train from the city, and another hour back to the city. its like goin to seremban from kl. i was there to shoot our single shot assignment at angel's house. it's a very cozy house, very relaxing suburb and that's the typical australian home. something i cant find in the city. right, aaron, what i know is only city, now i know ferntreegully ok. lol! anyway, it's a tiring journey, took the train home alone at 10pm at night. the train was so empty but i dont have a choise, i really dont feel like staying over at her place. felt more comfortable in my own place. =p well, back to our single shot assignment, once again i was the man behind the camera. i really like my role, as i have to constantly think about the position of the camera, what angles suits best the shot and the best technique to shoot a shot. reminds me so much of 'not a coincidence'. im hoping to get a good mark for this assignment, i thought it was quite good. i dont know, i havent see what other groups did, but judging from the outcome, i thought it was pretty good. and my friend angel did a great job in getting the floorplan done, perfectly done with the computer. for now, i'll keep my fingers cross and wait for the end result.
