My suppose-to-be boring Sunday turned 180 degrees when i called up Deli on Saturday and told her i was free to help out in their shooting on Sunday. What supposingly 'a help' turn out to be an amazing experience for me (a 2nd year student), observing their production day of the 3rd year media students doing their final project. I was quite surprised to see the amount of gears in the morning when i first reach the room (their control centre). Heaps of gears, huge tripods and cameras, sand bags, boom (the gigantic mic), a few red hats (spotlight for lightings) and some other equipments that name is unknown to me. I must say that Del and her group work very profesionally, just like what production companies does when they set out for shooting, readily with a F&B crew that take cares of the control room, which by the way was also serves as a pantry. So, anytime, feeling hungry? thirsty? feed yourself at the room. milk? sugar? equal sugar? juices? or tea? arnotts biscuits? home brands? its like a mini 7-eleven. and then it was time for lunch, we had delivery nando's and subway. choose one or take both. yes! i am not exagerating ! i managed to ask sisi how much did they spend on F&B so far, well, their budget was &500 per person but she said probably exceeded that already. and i asked her, is it necessary to have such good service for all the crew and cast? all the crews are her classmates except me which Del just randomly asked me to come over last week when i bumped into her at RMIT. Anyway, she said yes, they want to be as professional as possible. Another thing, they have got really good casts. They placed an ad to look for cast and found them from filmnet.org.au, they are all volunteers thus Sisi said food is the only thing they can offer to these casts. Now moving on to their shooting scene, they set up a scene specifically into what they want. with the correct lighting coming from the correct location. first scene was at the basement carpark, a scene between two males dressed up in uptown gangsta costume. it reminds me so much of Good Fellas or Godfather (if you know what it is). oh did i mention they even have a make up artist to put some color on the cast? anyway, im just so lazy to continue to go into detail about everything. basically im just amazed by how profesional they work, everything was so well set up and prepared. two thumbs up! i always thought delisa is a capable person after working with her in a group assignment last semester. =)
now lets get to the fun part, the wrap party! i was told that it was their last day shooting and that they have a wrap party at ryan's house (he's the producer). at first i was reluctant to go as i felt that i didnt help much but im eating their food, but they were really welcoming! and i didnt regret that i went because i had a great time with this bunch. by the way, i only know deli and sisi, the rest, about 10 of them are my new friends. the highlight at the party was the little debate between the singaporeans and malaysians. well, i sort of initiated it without intention. =p i was just asking mardi, a singaporean, why he can speak bahasa indonesia eloquently. and he proudly answers "well, I'm singaporean, what you expect?" and then i heard some rebuts from malaysians and then it the hilarious part start. everyone starts rebutting each other, favoring their own country.
"you singaporeans, better keep quiet or else we cut your water supply"
"cut la, and see what happen to your economy"
"singaporeans are so kiasu"
"we're are just too good"
"you singaporeans come to over to msia to eat chewing gums, oh pity you!"
"you malaysians are best known for cetak rompak"
"hah ! but look at what the singaporeans do? they come over to buy from us!"
and some other stuff which i cant remember now. and then someone just shouted "TETAPI, WE ARE ALL FRIENDS", and that's when it ended. haha! i thought that was the best argument so far (experience this before but not as funny as this), especially when i see how they rebut each other with those funny facial expression on their faces. the few aussie there were complete clueless of what we are arguing about. but someone explains to them like how their is little rivalry between New Zealand and Australia and that when they sort of get what we are arguing about. haha! anyway, i must say that i had a great time and delisa deserves a big thank you from me! =)
