Mr. Nestor Torres

Mr Torres, a fluatist and is a member of SGI-US. I attended his live informal interview two days ago. he was invited to share his experience and perform a couple of songs during the show. it was conducted in such a way like the oprah session, hosted by seko (an amazing stage person). the night started with a beautiful piece from his album, i was seating amongst the audience in awe! it was definitely one of the most beautiful piece of music that i have ever heard of in my entire life. maybe i am exagerating a little, but if you were there to see the way he was blowing his flute, you'll add more points into his piece. he is playing his music with so much passion, his gestures, the way he blows and his expression, it's just awesome! and then he started answering questions by seko. questions range from "what does courage means to you", "what makes you start practising Nichiren Daishonin's buddhism", "have you ever try to show-off on stage before", and a couple more that i cant recall now. One that strikes me was when he said that he start to practice this buddhism because this is the religion that explains from A-Z the question of life and death. and i thought, yea im still trying to learn everything of that. another quote that i like from him is "a performer should express himself on stage, not to impress". i did not realise this, having been a performer for many years, something that i should put in practice. well, im not saying i always perform to impress others, because my performance is not impressing at all =p haha. but yea, what's more important is the way a person express himself on stage, not to impress others, to show off how good you are. it is when one expresses himself because of his passion in what he is performing, the performers will eventually be touched and be impressed. at the end of the session, he gave us a big surprise (at least for me) by playing the song "Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law". i first heard this song few years ago, and i have it im mp3 file and i listen to it from time to time. i never thought that he was the oringinal fluatist of this song, and he was playing right in front of my eyes that night! it was just wonderful!
