A&E

i always thought that A&E stands for accident and emergency, well it is, but not in sgi hk hq10. here is oxford chapter, there is a A&E (awareness and enlightenment) meeting every month whereby a member's house would be selected every month to host the meeting venue. members would all come together, chant for 0.5 hours and have group discussion about a topic. and for today's meeting, we went to tsuen wan for des's house. he is a image designer. so it made no surprise at all when i step into his house and thought that the house has a very 'design' feel. though the house was pretty small, but the setting, the design and most of all, the ambience is extremely nice. another thing about his condo, the set-up of the entire condo is similar to a hotel. where you would have receptionist at the lobby, attendant to open glass doors for you, sofa to sit at the lobby, carpet-covered floor on the lobby and corridors on every floor, everything was so hotel! even the setting inside the house itself was like a 5 star hotel room. and i really think this is so cool!!
now, moving on to the meeting, once again i felt very international. members attending the meeting were from all over the world. graduates from aus, uk, america, member from japan, s'pore (who pretended to be a korean at first =p), and of course some local members from hk itself. after G&D (they dont use this term in hk by the way), we break the ice by introducing outselves one by one and the dicussion follows. we dwelled on the topic 'the greater self'. which simply means the hidden potential in a human, the hidden buddha nature that everyone owns, and that we have the power to do great things than we could imagine. also, we have the potential or rather, the power, to overcome devilish functions, problems and challenges. sufferings are for us to grow, it is not the outcome that is the most important, but the process of overcoming problems that is important. and basicaly thats some of the few main points that i got from the meeting.
when the meeting ended, everyone went into smaller groups and had a little chit chat before leaving. first i was talking to jack and then joined my dad and des. most the conversation were about melbourne as des was a graduate from monash and he really like it there, like, REALLY LIKE IT THERE!. he was somehow overwhelm when i told him i might be going there to further my studies. and guarantees me that i would definitely love it there. hah!

From the above-mention s'porean pretending to be korean

*ding dong* des opened the door
man: hello, is this soka?
des: yaya, welcome in.
as the man walks in,
2 ywds and grace: hello! hi!
man: hi!
1st ywd: are you from korea?
man: no
grace: so where are you from?
man: anyong kam hamida
grace: japanese?
man: no *starts to laugh*
ywds and grace: huh? then?
man: singapore! hehehehe

sigh... hehehe what a joke. guess i better learn up some japanese, so that the next time i could do this to trick new friends. hehehe!
