attended a chanting meet yesterday. a whole lot of miscommunication caused us (te and me) arriving late for the meeting by 15 mins. =p i was still having flu, wrapping 'wantons' for the whole day. surprisingly it went off after the chanting meet. didnt realise i stop 'har-chiu-ing' until i reach home and saw some 'wantons' in my bag. hahaha.. gross, ya i know.. =p anyhow, the highlight was after the meeting. anna and gene's parents were here from s'pore for a vacation, and to visit their daughters. there were sort of like giving encouragements informally. getting to know some of us and give us randoms encouragements about how important faith, practise and study is, and they must go together. and also the importance of doing shakubuku. then it came to a point, the uncle was saying it was his wife who shakubuku-ed him, and he was very thankful for that. and said that all these years, his wife was "the pillar of him", because she has a very strong faith. he was saying that in front of his wife, in front of all of us, and i could see how her wife's expression, it was so sweet and harmony. i could feel it. i think they really have a harmonious family, both of their daughters are here, anna's bf started chanting already, i think soon gene's bf would be too. it's so great to have everyone practising nichiren daishonin's buddhism together. =)
i had wmt tute today and it was really interesting. we're moving from writing to sound this week. we were given this recorder to go out and record sound, i.e. footsteps, trams, doors, people talking etc. and this recorder is really huge, together with a microphone and a headphone. an and i carried that all around rmit, and out on la trobe and swanston to record sound. other students would know at once that we were from media school out on a task. haha.. it was really interesting !
