i was reading some news on thestar website and came across this commercial by Petronas. I must say that they always have the best commercial to promote peace and culture amongst the various race in msia. especially the ones during CNY, Deepavali, Hari Raya and Merdeka month. they are always meaningful and thought-provoking and have the tradition of making very heart-warming advertisement during festival season in Malaysia. Click here to see. if im not mistaken, Telekom also have some good ones on this. A part of me felt that these ads are merely showing off the ideal nation that does not exist is real life, but another part of me believes that there are still racial harmony in the country. I guess just like whats shown in the ads, only the older generation holds that belief because they were once united before, but looking at it now, seems like its disappearing just like how bubbles disappearing into thin air. for me personally, the only time i feel and experience racial harmony was during my NS time. i was just so lucky to be in this group which was then known as the most united group. we've heard lots of nasty stories happening in other groups about how the chinese and the malay hated each other and how the indians are always with the indians and refuse to join in group discussions. but that kind of stuff never happen in my group before. we all hang out together, we all have supper together we all just love to be with each other despite our race. i wish i have some ns photos here so that i could post some here, as i really miss them so much all of a sudden! i would like to highlight a few particular moments that is still fresh in my mind :
1. the last day in setiu where falah, anwar, joyce and myself, were chit chatting whole night at Baracudda, refusing to sleep as it was our last night at Setiu before adjourning our other modules in UiTM.
2. shikin, aishiching, liana, asmaa and joyce -they are all my tentmates, i remember all the 'gossips' we have everynight, all the complains we had for this girl, all the snacks we have at night despite 2am in the morning and i just love how others envied us and wanted so much to move into our tent! ha!
3. the many evenings where we all played volleyball together =)
4. the many nights at the booth, with all the chats and laughs
5. last but not least the night we were announced the best group in Setiu. cheering and partied all night singing our group song non-stop, photos and etc. it was like the proudest and glorious moment for us, something which we talk about even until now.

~dedicated to anwar, asmaa, caryn, falah, fez, joyce, kumaran, shikin, wing sze, adi, aishiching and the rest. =)
