Time-off

It's a little more than a month since I finished my final semester. I can't believe how fast time passes when I received an email from KK on RC's 11th birthday celebration. Felt like just yesterday when I made this video. As I'm typing this I'm missing home so much, the things that I did last year when I was back for the first time, I could recall vividly each encounter with afriend or a family member, and not forgetting the surprising expression in their faces. =)

So what have I been doing for the past one month? Well I must said that part of it were spent doing meaningful activities (at least that's what I think =p) but on some days I just felt so wasted - sitting at home doing nothing, wasting time and maybe going out and spending money. =S I know it's holiday and it is okay to get wasted on some day. =p I just have to keep reminding myself.

Anyhow, here's some snapshots of my month -long holiday in chronological order. Starting with the first was Kai's birthday!

Like last year, I organised her birthday dinner. So this year I did the same and invited some of our mutual friends who actually turned up! Unlike last year which was a total failure. Hehe. But I must said that TV1 and TV2 played an important role in bring our bonds closer to our course mates as we all met up frequently out of class times be it editing or shooting or planning our film.

The night continued and ended in Nectar, the most un-happenning bar that I went before, and Kai dranks 5 shots courtesy from Wong, Bryan, Jelo, Derrick and this Indo guy which I can't remember his name.

Anyway, half way through, the photos I took shows that I need a quick check on my hair. It was messy and all curled up already. So off I went to the toilet to fix it. I took out my hair straightener and start to iron-straight my hair.

Actually not, I don't carry a hair straightener wherever I go! Those of you who really thought so must be really silly! LOL! Hehe... The truth is, I saw this hair straightener in the toilet! I was so amazed by how well-thought the Nectar management was. It comes in handy for girls in times of emergency. I don't know, some might be too drunk and could be dancing hard, waltzing rock and roll and end up with messy hair. But Nectar has got the solution! $2 for a quick fix and you'll be back looking gorgeous on the dancing floor.

Persian Party

Few weeks ago I received a call from a witheld number. I thought it was either my mum or my dad but to my surprise it was Sabere, my ex-housemate. What I initially thought of her calling me to get my letters or something turn out to be an invitation to her random party. Yes, read that word r.a.m.d.o.m cause it's just a casual party. I asked her again and again is there any reason say her birthday party or is it a farewell or celebration for her graduating soon etc but denied all of them. Anyway, I told her that I was going to come since I'm free on Friday night.

Kai came with me, I'm glad she did. She add more Chinese faces in the party. =p Most of them are Iranian. As you can see from the photo, only 3 of us Chinese, that guy is from HK. So Persian party it is, Persian food, Persian music and Persian people speaking Persian language. One thing I notice about them is their cheek kissing culture. This is their way of greeting a friend and they do it to guys too - the Persian way. It is almost like the hugging culture for Australians which is more common to many of us. Also, this bunch of Persian are very friendly people, they would walk around the room and introduce themselves and approach us to strike a conversation.

Halfway through the night, someone played some upbeat Iranian music and everyone start dancing. I felt a bit awkward at the beginning but soon when every's doing it I just followed. But it didn't felt right cause I'm so not used to dancing to Iranian music. Andddd, it was my first time seeing Kai's on her moves and boy... she's such a cutie !!! I'm laughing as I'm typing this. =p As for the Bob (the one from HK), he tried to shuffle but it just didn't match with Persian music, but I must say he's really good at it. I've tried a few times, trying to learn shuffling but it's just not my thing. I just can't get the beats and rhythm synchronise. Sigh... shall try again next time.

The night ended at about 11.30pm after a long wait for Sabere to come out from the toilet. Apparently she drank too much and ended up vomitting in the toilet. Hehe.. Anyhow, I quite enjoyed the party, not so much for the food, but the company was good. =)

And this is the 'surprise'...

Yea, Angel/Kai/Le Coca/Momo/Ting Kai Yen, this is my 'surprise' for you... LOL !!! I swear Ant and I DID plan for something more, just that it didnt work out like how we wanted. Hm.. Anyway, though it was just the three of us, I still enjoyed the company. =) I'm glad that I was able to share your 21st birthday in Melbourne. I mean, at least one of the biatches is here right.. aint't that bad right? And you're celebrating with two of your closest friend/lover here, so what more can you ask for? =p But really, it was a relaxing dinner and the jackpot was funny ! haha... Anyhow, hope you had a good one ! =)

note that the 'hip hip horray' was a little soft, that's because we receive a complain from next door of us being too noisy so we asked wayne to imagine the 'hip hip horray' to be 10 times louders. lol!
2nd note: Cost to stay in this suite per night - more than 1K AUD! B.u.t. it was FREE for us ! =p

Fun Night For a Good Cause

She was one of the first few members i met in Melbourne. She doesnt look like she's recovering from cancer at all ! And then i heard her experience. She shared in front of two big meetings, each time she does, she spoke with pride! After the ordeal with cancer, she volunteered herself in the Cancer Council. Supporting all activities to raise fund and one of many was Girls Night In. Girls Night In is a project run by the Cancer Council. It works like this: organise a dinner/potluck/party, invite friends, get them to pay the amount of money that they would spend on a typical Friday night. Let's say a typical Friday, Molly would spend $10 on dinner and another $10 on movie. So she participate in Girls Night In and donate that $20 into the fund-raising. But PJ sort of loosen the rules a bit by inviting guys as well. And the dress code was PINK! (remember pink ribbon?) Almost everyone came in pink. some had to dig out their old polo T that doenst fit anymore (note:got chubbier, like me =p) and some came in old T-shirt as that's the only pink shirt they have. haha! PJ prepared some finger food, jin bought a dozen of Krispy Kreme (which i fast for more than 3 months already!) and YF and i bought some crackers with dippings. Swan and PJ (the two cancer survivors) shared their ordeal, PJ was tearied as she relate how her family and friends supported her all along. And the night continued with Rapidough and some camwhoring. =p Everyone showed their 'true colors' during the game, all the kiasu-ness, and cheeki-ness were shown ! hahaha! The night ended with 30 minutes of saying goodbye (because each good bye means hugging, after hugging comes photo-taking). Typical! lol!

It was a night with the whites and the blacks and the in betweens. Have a smashing one Kel ! =)
